It works with my Subaru Outback with only one minor issue. Subaru hitch receivers are double thick walled so the hitch pin they sent with the hitch was not long enough to get the "R" pin in. Fortunately I had already ordered the locking hitch pin they say in the product description is made for the hitch. That hitch pin was not quite long enough to get the "R" pin in but it is long enough to get the lock on. If they made that 1/8 inch longer I could get the "R" pin in as well. So far this setup has worked but I would feel a little more comfortable if I could get the "R" pin in as well.I urge any potential purchaser to examine and measure their receiver. If it is wider than 3 inches across the outside walls, the hitch pin they provide will not work. You will need to buy their locking hitch pin which will handle widths of 3 1/4 inches. You can buy your own hitch pin but be aware that the rack hitch is not just holes you can slide a hitch pin through. It is a threaded shaft that the hitch pin threads into. I presume this provides greater strength and stability. Even though the description says it is a 5/8 hitch pin it is a 5/8 threaded hitch pin. Therefore a 5/8 unthreaded hitch pin will probably not work. You would need to use a 1/2 inch hitch pin if you do not want to use their provided hitch pin or purchase their locking hitch pin.I also ordered the stabilizer that others had ordered. I didn't know such things existed until I saw this. I used to jam wooden shims in which did not work too well. The rack is much sturdier than expected for the price and easy to use with my bike. The only thing here is I wish they had an accessory that clamped over the bikes after they are strapped in and could be locked.I have a two inch hitch on a mid-sized SUV and needed a quick and easy way to transport bikes every now and then - meaning, I don't want the bike rack mounted for days or weeks at a time; simply hours or fractions of thereof.I really like this rack. It was simple to put together with basic tools and it seems well built. It's heavy, but not overly heavy - all adults in my family can easily take it off the wall where it is stored, place it in the hitch, and be on their way. Taking the rack off the vehicle is just as easy. Adding bikes and transporting bikes are easy and secure via the included velcro straps. Two things I'm not a fan of, but is overcomable: 1) This rack comes with a hitch screw, vs. a hitch pin. Others have commented on this as well. The hitch screw won't fit in the pinhole in my hitch, and I had no interest in trying to enlarge the hole - so I bought a different hitch pin and the problem was solved. 2) The hitch wobbles when in the hitch- considerably. Sure, I have a hitch stabilizer (tightener), and if I were using this rack on longer trips, I'd use the hitch stabilizer. Most of my trips are simply within the neighborhood, or cross town - adding the time to install the hitch stablizer is non-ideal.So there you have it. A good rack; I love how compact it becomes when not in use. It's heavy, but not too heavy and seems to secure the bikes well. If you do order it, get yourself an extra hitch pin and if you mainly have short trips - you'll want a way to alleviate the hitch wobble.Very sturdy and well built. Folks that complain about it banging around don't realize it just a symptom of using a trailer hitch and can be solved with a hitch tightener. I do have a few issues... First, the pins used to secure the various arms in place are really tight. I need to use a hammer to get them in and out. You can't really put them in or take them out by hand. I am going the loosen up over time. Second is more a symptom of the type of hitch you have. Mine is recessed and covered by a plastic piece so that it is hidden when not in use. This means that I needed to use a hitch extender to get the bike rack pin to line up with the hitch without the rack pushing up against the plastic bumper cover. It's only 2 inches short but the smallest extender they make is 7 inches. This is only an issue if your hitch is recessed back from the bumper. I guess you could cut a notch in the bottom of the bumper cover but I didn't want to do that.I returned this. They say 4 bike rack but there's no way i can hang 4 bikes from this. Hanging 3 bikes (2 adult 1 child) alone was hard and i had to shove cardboard between them in spots because the bikes were touching because there's very little space between them and I didn't want the frames to rub on each other. The bike rack seems like a solid build HOWEVER the first day I used it, we got caught under the rain and the very next morning rust appeared from under all four bike supports! Also, this rack does not really fit 4 bikes as advertised. The supports are a bit too close to each other. Contacted Maxxhaul as they mention to contact them before giving them a rating lower than 4 stars. So I did. Their response did not even address the rust issue but mentioned it is the only complaint they got regarding not fitting 4 bikes. Their solution: ask Amazon for a refund as you bought it from there. Sad product and sad customer support. Not about to state what others have already mentioned, but I have to shot out about that hitch screw...are you kidding me?!I prefer the hitch lock that I already have, a NORMAL hitch lock, which wouldn't fit in the threaded tube. Included hitch bolt cannot be done or undone by hand... trust me... you just can't. What to do...Here's what I did:Once upon a time, I bought a pack of hex shank carbide drill bits from CT at $5.89 on clearance, one of them was just the right size to fit in the threaded hitch tube, so I drilled and drilled, my neighbors came out to see what the noise was all about...after I waved at them, I sprayed water to cool the drill bit, then I drilled and drilled, sprayed again, drilled, sprayed, drilled, the hitch got so hot I had to put on gloves. Half hour later, the drill bit came out the other side, and now it is done, and done right! I slid my hitch lock in there with a smile of victory.2 stars only because it's made sturdy. The agony I had was not worth the $133 I paid. If you don't have my craft or don't want my kind of headache, go buy something else. Will not fir pick up truck hitch****See pictures***I have to return the this bike rack since I'm the screw /pin provided will not raceach the other side when bike rack installed and cant put the safty pin on the other side. Other standard pin will not fit because this bike rack has the thread for its pin/screw.Also hard to see this rack fits 4 bikes on it. I did 2 kids and one adult bike and no room for 4th.
